Life Without Meat

Today I decided to go vegetarian. Cecil and had a discussion before about the number of times we eat meat during a day. I am pretty sure I eat a meat at least twice a day, if not three. Matter fact, I don’t remember a single day in my life where I have gone without eating a meat. It is kind of sad and unhealthy at the same time. While I am sure I will be tired AND grumpy by the end of the day, I have decided to challenge myself to bypass any meat product today. Thus far I am 2 for 2!

For breakfast I enjoyed some Post bran cereal with the nuts and berries. I guess I should look at the box and figure out exactly what I am eating. I bypassed the milk and just ate it dry. I figured that would save me a few calories for the day. I also ate a nice green banana. That surprisingly kept me full until lunch. I am currently enjoying the nice vegetarian pizza I decided to have for lunch, and some chips I packed. I can not readily identify the diverse array of vegetables they decided to put on this pizza. Each time I bite into it though, there is a new pleasant surprise. I do recognize the mushrooms, onions, peppers, and cauliflower though. I am almost certain they found every vegetable they had in the back and decided to chop it up and put it on this pizza. It is fulfilling nonetheless.

I am motivated to go 3 for 3. Maybe then I can turn my vegetarian streak into two Whole days.

Off to a bad start

So, you know it is never good when you eat breakfast and lunch an hour apart, right? That is how I know my eating today will be disastrous. Although I have not been too bad, I had breakfast circa 10AM and was at work eating the lunch I packed by 11:15. Breakfast was simple, a bowl of some kellog’s flakes with some yogurt and fruit clusters. Lunch was a turkey sandwich, a small portion of chips, a fiber one bar, and a banana. Hopefully that will sustain me until dinner time, but I doubt it.

Back Sliding

How do you backslide on the first day you start your flog? What had happened was... I have a good excuse though, National Championship football. That however doesn’t quite explain my grocery list. I went into the grocery store with good intentions, but that went out the window once I passed the chips at the door. I need to start preparing for the grocery store with a list, instead of doing this impromptu shopping thing. My basket consisted of TWO bags of chips, two frozen pizzas, fries, chicken tenders, Gatorade, and a pound of sliced turkey. I did pick up some bananas though. I don’t foresee much weight being lost until all of that is out of the house.

I cooked an undisclosed amount of chicken tenders and fries in preparation for the game. I am pretty sure it was enough for two people to eat off of. At first I couldn’t find my ranch, so I thought I was going to have to make one of those combinations of mustard and mayo I made as a kid. Don’t play like you haven’t done it before. I finally located the ranch and had a nice pool of it for dipping sauce. I washed it all down with the lone Miller High Life I had in the fridge. I considered going to get more, but I figured that was a good stopping point. Better days are on the way.

Ahem Ahem

I am back bitches. I will officially be the first one to start the flog back in the New Year. Cecil is in an exam so I sure he won't start back until later tonight. He will probably be exhausted from writing, and I am sure he will spend half the night indulging in some pleasure/celebration food. And well, we didn't warn Nwenna we were starting back, so she is at a disadvantage. The holidays were filled with tons of sinful pleasure. The trip back home was a total disaster, from eating at all my favorite fast food joints to eating dessert multiple times in a day. A little monitoring will be very much necessary in the New Year so that I won't be shopping in the Husky section of JCPenny's. With that being said, let's get into it.

This morning I had a cinnamon raisin bagel for breakfast. Somehow I need to find someone something fulfilling and tasty to eat in the morning. The bagel isn't going to cut it. I’m sure eating a bagel has to be equivalent to eating an entire box of cereal. Lunch wasn’t much better; it however was at least in a reasonable portion. I have a great Brazilian spot on the way home from my gym that I probably stop at too frequently. I had some chicken wrapped in bacon and a little pork leftover. Yeh, it even sounds bad after I typed it out. Also, someone needs to come get these sea salt and cracked pepper chips out of my desk drawer.

That was relatively painless; dinner will be too be continued….
